Practical Lesson
1:
We went to the theatre to do warm ups and go over our
performance ‘Identity’.
These are the warm ups we did:
- Body warm
ups (stretches)
- Breathing techniques
One of the breathing exercises helps with your posture.
The rehearsals today were quite messy as some of
the students could not remember their lines and what was happening. Our
teacher Rob wanted us to get into character, to make the performance look more professional.
The second time we went over the piece I was able to get into character, this was achieved by taking my time adding pauses to my performance that gave my piece more emotion. I was really proud of myself.
Practical Lesson 2:
The whole lesson was spent practising the African dance with Simon our choreographer and classmate. Ashley and I were excused because
we felt we were not confident enough to do the dance also it was not part of
our identity. So, whilst the others were rehearsing we stood on the side of the
stage cheering them on. Some students found certain moves difficult. So they
decided not to take part in the dance but as a team we supported them to not
give up and stay focused. As it progressed their dancing got better.
