Week Beginning the 18th November

On Monday 18th November, the last group in my class were filming their haunted house. The rest of the class went to the library to complete their Hamilton homework. I was lucky enough to help the last group with their film. I helped with the makeup and props. It was a fun experience as it was good to help out and work behind the scenes, but they were unable to finish filming because of retakes and the makeup.

We then got into pairs and had to write a script starting with one of the following lines:

1. No I don’t feel guilty
2. Listen to me please
3. Have you seen the ....
4. Wait? Why

Myself and Alana chose the line “no I don’t feel guilty”
We made a plan, this is what we wrote:

All the scripts were swapped around, we performed another pairs work.
All performances were about relationships not going well. The script myself and Alana wrote was performed by Mark and Shadhut. It was funny to watch, they set it in a pub and acted drunk. I was pleased with how it went.
When myself and Alana read the script written by Ashley and Adina, they helped us with certain lines. This was useful because it gave us more information about our characters.
This exercise was to help us read and write scripts. When reading a script I need to understand the story and the characters so I know how to play my part. This will help me develop my skills in acting.

Tech work - unit 4
On Monday 20th November I had to think of what went well and what could of gone better for our silent Movie.

WWW:
  • We worked well as a team.
  • We were able to tell each other if we did something wrong.
  • We had props, costumes and our story board ready for the film.
  • We listened to each other, so we knew when to say our own lines.
EBI:
  • When we were filming, we would laugh so we need to focus more and stay in character.
  • Make characters more over the top to make it believable.
  • Make sure what our background is on the green screen, so we know where we are and how to react.
  • In the scene where Mark gets angry with Myself, Hanna, Louis and Ashleigh as we go into the haunted house. Mark should use his facial expressions to show his anger. Myself, Hanna and Louis should express fear in our bodies and faces to give a better performance.

On Thursday 21st November - unit 5,6 and 7 I was partnered with Alice and Albiona. We were given a starter script which we had to continue with our own lines. We decided our story would be about a serial killer on the loose. I did not think our performance went well as it was messy, and we were not centre stage. Rob agreed that it needed direction, so he went through it with us. Rob positioned us to make our performance better and clearer to see. This was helpful, next time I will stand in the correct position where the audience can see me clearer. When watching the other groups, they were able to make the rest of the class laugh because their stories were funny. We then went in our haunted house groups and re-did our story board for the editors. The title of our film is “Don’t look at the light”.

Week Beginning the 13th January

On Monday 13th January, we had to search for context about the play “Citizenship”.  The two questions we were given were:  1. Ways to research  2. What will we research?  This was what I got from answering these questions:  National Theatre Mark Ravenhill I was put in a group with Hanna, Henok, Louis and Aso. In our groups we would have to make a presentation about the context of “citizenship”. We decided that Hanna and Henok would make the slide show. Myself and Louis would do the research as Aso would find photos. This showed teamwork, we decided and agreed our roles quickly as it was the end of the lesson.  We then went into our groups for “Citizenship” and rehearsed our lines. I helped Ashleigh, we worked well as a team.  Underplay  = Making something less important than it is. E.g breaking your leg and saying it does not hurt. Overplay  = To make something bigger than it is. E.g If someone got a pap...

Week Beginning the 16th March

On Monday 16 th  March,  we got into pairs and read our monologues to each other. I partnered with Louis. His monologue is about a group of teenagers who bully someone to their death, but later find out he is still alive . I thought Louis should say his monologue in a slower and clearer voice because I felt he had rushed his speech. This also showed that he was not in character. We were then given these four emotions: Happy Sad Confused Joyous We took turns to perform, the class choose the emotion for each of us to do. With my monologue, I was told to perform in a confused way. After performing Rob believed that I should talk from my stomach as I was talking from my throat. Talking from your stomach helps your voice become clearer and louder, the audience will be able to hear and see a better performance from you. I will learn from that when rehearsing at home. On Tuesday 17 th March, we made a profile for our monologues character. We wrote about who are ...

UNIT 1 - 26th September 2019

Practical Lesson 1: Today in practical work the first thing we did was musical chairs.  We then went over the beginning for our piece for identity. We added a scene where class mate mark did his verbatim. The rest of us were in a semi-circle behind him. The people in the semi-circle would go to someone on the opposite side and pretend to talk with them but mouthing without speaking.  I thought whilst doing this it was silly but had a laugh. Practical Lesson 2: In the second practical, we went over what we did in the first practical lesson. The next person to do their verbatim was Simon. Whilst he was saying his we got Dee to be a lost student who couldn’t find her class. She would ask help from the people in the semi-circle but no one would help. She then went to Simon but he refuses to help her. When he leaves her the rest of us would start to circle her saying “you got no friends”. Every time we said the line the volume would get louder. We would repeat thi...
