Task Three
We had an empty bottle in the middle of a circle that we were in and we would take it in turns to use the bottle as something else (but not as a bottle). When it was my turn I used the bottle as a plane and had it flying in the air.

Task Four
For this task we were given a tongue-twister. Most of the words began with 'th' which made it difficult, but fun. At the beginning we said it all together as a class but then we had to say it by ourselves in front of each other which made me feel nervous.

Task Five
The teacher randomly chose someone to stand in the front so that everyone would stare at. That person was me and it made me feel awkward and strange. The other students staring felt creepy as they were just staring at me.

Task Six
This activity was to get in pairs and do a scene where we were given scripts but with some of the sentences missing and so we had to finish them ourselves. This helped us to improve our improvisation. I and my partners scene was about two students wanting to bunk off school.

Task Seven
The last task we carried out was to present or spider diagram about 'skills' from yesterday’s lesson. We got to know what the other groups thought about the skills needed for performing arts acting.

We watched four videos from different productions and whilst watching we had to note down the different jobs we thought were needed for each production.
The productions we watched were Romeo and Juliet, Ukrainian
Dancers, Cirque Du Soleil and Blue Man Group.
For each we listed the following:
Romeo and Juliet
- Lighting
- Costumes
- Set
- Props
Ukrainian Dancers
- Costumes (they had LED lights on them)
- Lighting (the whole room was in darkness)
- Music
Cirque Du Soleil
- Set
- Lighting
- Props
- Costume
- Music
Blue Man Group
- Sound
- Props
- Dim lighting
- Set (three big phones in a row centre stage)
After watching the videos and making our notes we then
discussed what was the same, and what the differences were between the
productions.
Same:
- Lighting
- Costume
- Props
- Sound
- Set
- Backdrop
- Hair and Makeup
Different:
- Themes (set, costumes)
- Costume (textures)
- Audience
- End result
- Audience demographic (what age, wealth, gender, education) I.e. for opera it has a very white middle-class wealthy audience
Depending on the production the backdrop could be used in
many ways:
- A painted garden scene
- Just plain black fabric
- Window and door frame
These are some examples of backdrops:
