Practical Lesson 1:
We talked about Verbatim Theatre
We talked about Verbatim Theatre
Verbatim is an even that has happened to people who have
experienced:
- Death
- Loss
- War
- Fear
The words from those people are used by actors to tell the
story. Those actors might have not experienced that so they can’t change the
words from the person that has experienced it.
Task One
We got into groups of four and we talked about what could be performed at Verbatim Theatre. Some of the ideas we thought of were:

Task Two
We then got into pairs and recorded in turn, each of us talking about when we were the most angriest and when we were the happiest. We then listened to the recordings and had to act like each other copying their voice. We then had a choice of performing it to the rest of the class by trying to remember what you partner said (but could listen to the recording for help).

It was very interesting to see and hear how other people
think other people sound and some were very funny.
Practical Lesson
2:
We first started by making a list of what we were going to
do in the lesson:
- Work on devising process
- Games
- Develop our confidence
- Support each other
- Skills, space, sound
Task One
We walked around the room and go to the nearest person and talk to them about our weekend. When the teacher clapped his hands we had to then walk around the room again and meet someone new but this time we would both talk over each other and not listen to them. I found this this activity quite difficult but I was able to continue talking over my partner without stopping.

Task Two
One person would go outside the room and the rest of us had to pick a celebrity and then think that the person who left the room was that celebrity. We then had to act out things that the celebrity had done in front of the person who left the room to see if they could guess who they were. This helped us work as a team.

Task Three
We got into pairs and looked at photos placed on the floor in order to pick one, devise (plan) and then perform it. The photo me and my partner picked was of a train, so we performed that one of us (Ashley) was leaving but she didn't want to go on the train as she would regret it and be sad.

The skills the teacher was giving all of us is not to get
distracted by the audience and try to stay focused whilst performing.
